Cord trim is one of the most refined and architecturally precise passementerie types — twisted or braided cord in round or flat cross-section, applied at upholstery seams, cushion borders, drapery edges, and decorative details to create a precise, jewellery-like finishing line. Cord Trim Constructions

Twisted cord is made from two or more strands twisted together — the most classic cord construction, producing the characteristic spiral surface texture that is the signature of traditional passementerie. Braided cord interweaves multiple strands in a diagonal pattern for a flatter, less spiralled surface. Lip cord incorporates a flat flange woven into the cord construction, making it suitable for insertion into upholstery seams — the lip is hidden inside the seam while the round cord portion sits on the surface as a defining finish line. Twisted cord with lip is the most versatile and widely-used cord construction for professional upholstery applications.
